Good Morning Healthy Lifestyle Family! I get asked A LOT about why I feel that I can help people become healthier, more fit and enjoy life more and the answer is simple….I have gone through the same struggles as others out there and have learned something.
Let’s be honest, it’s one thing to pick up a book, magazine or surf the web and find inspirational stories about celebrities. Now don’t get me wrong, there are a TON of famous people out there who have done pretty incredible things, however there are times after I read the article I think, ‘Well of course they can lose 50 lbs in 6 months…they have a trainer, a cook and a nanny to help them!’. Or I may think ‘Of course they can purchase organic, healthy foods because they have the money to do that and I live paycheck to paycheck.’ I know that some of you think the exact same things.
Here’s the deal, I’m REAL. I have struggled with being the chunky girl in middle/high school and through my adult life, I have struggled with living in a household with an alcoholic step-father (not my present Daddy 🙂 ), I have seen how prescription and recreational drugs can harm people and ruin relationships. I have struggled through depression and suicide attempts, a nasty divorce and custody battle. I have also LEARNED from these experiences. I have learned ways to cope, stop making excuses and stop stressing over things that I cannot change. This is why I do what I do as a fitness/health coach. Will you need to know the back story? Yes. But what I focus on when helping people is THEIR struggles, THEIR demons, THEIR skeletons in the closet. We all have them. The difference is that some of us have learned to LIVE with them…they never really go away but these experiences make us stronger, wiser and empowered. If I can help one person each day to find that actionable item that will get them on the road to recovery then I have done my job.
So what does this mean? Well, over the next several weeks I will be blogging about the various topics listed above as well as others. Don’t worry, I’ll also be posting more crock-pot recipes and fitness tips during the week as well. I would love to hear your thoughts on this so PLEASE leave me a comment below. What do you struggle with, what are some of your demons that you want released from?
Please feel free to share this blog with someone that you think will find this next series of entries helpful.
