Friday Feature Spotlight

Plus Size Workout Results! Krista lost 60 Pounds!

We are starting something new here on the blog and I am sooo excited for it! Once a month there will be a Feature Friday Spotlight article giving a huge ass shout out to a member of the Healthy Lifestyle Community! These ladies are showing up every day with their workouts, using their meal guides and showing up in the community sharing their successes, their struggles and supporting each other. This is the recipe for success and I want to share their triumphs each month…so let’s get started!

Meet Krista…

Krista’s inspiration to start her health and fitness journey were her two granddaughters, wanting to ease the arthritis pain in her knees and be able to move around without being winded. Krista started her journey by simply moving more and using the app ‘Lose It’ to track her movements and food intake. By making this small lifestyle change she was able to lose 20 pounds. Krista then came across one of my YouTube videos of a program called YouV2 and was interested in trying it. After reviewing her history with exercising and food intake, learning her goals and why this change was important to her we got her set up with the complete YouV2 program and plugged her into my online Healthy Lifestyle Community for support.

Learn more about Krista’s journey below…

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
“I weighed 422 lbs and was having a hard time even walking around without getting winded. I didn’t like myself but felt helpless to do anything about it.”

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
“My greatest challenge was to just get up and start moving. YouV2 gave me a workout that someone my size could actually do! At the beginning I could only do about 10 minutes of the workout but before long I was able to complete the whole 30 minute workout!”

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
“I have lost a total of 60 pounds now and can walk without having to stop and catch my breath. I didn’t take measurements when I started but my clothes are starting to feel much looser so I know I have lost inches too. I think the thing I am most proud of is that I have stuck to doing my workouts at least 5 days a week even with the craziness of school starting and having to get up at 4:15 to get it done!”

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
“I am feeling more confident in myself and my ability to get to a healthy weight.”

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
“Just knowing that there are others that are on the same journey has been incredibly helpful. Reading others post about their struggles and successes showed me that I am not on this road alone. Their encouragement along the way meant the world to me and helped push me to keep on making the positive changes in my lifestyle!”

How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
“Jennifer has been amazing from day #1! It was actually her video that I found online that encouraged me to get my bottom off the couch and give the YouV2 program try . She has spent time answering my questions, encouraging me and celebrating with me when I have even the tiniest amount of success! She even took the time to make two videos to show how to modify the strength and toning moves that I can not do yet because getting up and down off the floor is not possible.”

Progress Not Perfection

10988479_642522012558212_6609033471605572733_nI have come extremely far over the past 3 years. I started my fitness journey in the summer of 2013 being a person who was depressed, a person who would eat in secret and a person that would actually cut herself because I simply didn’t know how to cope with my feelings of failure and poor body image. I was one of those people that would allow the scale to dictate my mood for the day and determine if I felt like a success or a complete failure. I weighed myself weekly and the number that I saw was never good enough for me. I’m sure a lot of you can relate.

It took an awful divorce and becoming a single mother to wake me up. I started incorporating fitness into my daily life and really started to pay attention to what I was eating. I had to learn that the scale is only part of the story. It’s a tool that we have to combine with body measurements and more importantly how we feel! It’s so very important to compare where we are today with what we did a week ago, a month ago or prior to our fitness journey. Being a person now who has learned how to deal with depression, emotional eating and pushes herself daily to improve her fitness level has given me my life back. It has also allowed me to help others learn how to get their lives back and start living!

If you are tired of just going through the day to day motions and want to better yourself physically, emotionally and mentally I encourage you to join me. I’m putting together another group that will consist of 10 women who want to become stronger, leaner, more confident and for once find that self worth that you have been longing for.

If you want to hear about my next online group that will be on fitness, nutrition and personal development please email me at and let’s chat! I can’t wait to take this next chapter with you 🙂

CONSISTENCY is Key to YOUR Sucess!

You'll never change your life until youIf you have followed me for a while now, one thing that you should know is that I’m honest about my personal health journey. If you are new to this page…I want you to know, if nothing else….that I’m honest, real and know for a fact there are many of you out there just like me.

You get excited, make goals, a new routine and follow it with the best intentions…but then something happens. Life happens…negative thoughts happen….for some reason you stop reaching for those goals. Am I right? Maybe it’s the people we surround ourselves. Maybe it’s our inner self telling us we aren’t suppose to reach that goal. Whatever is is…it torments us and before we know it, we are back to our old ways and feeling guilty and ashamed.

Well, you aren’t alone! I started Insanity Max 30 January 1 and I LOVE the program!! But for some reason have only done a limited amount of this program. I have big goals in 2015, one being to lose 100 lbs this year. I started this year strong but I’m just like you…life happened. Relationships have crumbled, I have been sick a lot the end of 2014/beginning of 2015, my life has become more busy and hectic…the list goes on. I also know that these are nothing but EXCUSES!! You see, if my health was really a priority it wouldn’t matter what popped into my day…I would get my workouts in and be on point with my nutrition.

This morning I really looked at myself and it dawned on me that the reason I’m sick so much is that I don’t treat my body like I should. We get one try at this life, with this body and if we aren’t good to it…it will shut down and our time will be done. That’s the truth…so…I’m making a promise not to you…but to MYSELF that I will do better. I will get my Insanity Max 30 workouts in, I will start using my portion containers to really focus on my nutrition and I will start treating my body with respect.

It will take more than one day, more than one week…It will take CONSISTENCY and I need to remind myself of this every day. I may not see results immiediately BUT if I’m consistent…I will see them.

My question for you is this. Will you join me? Will you make a little change in your daily routine that will help you get one step closer to meeting your goals? Will you do this consistently and when you are ready to give up…will you remember this post and your ‘why’ for wanting to become healthy and push on? The choice is yours and yours only….

Benefits of a Food Journal

Day 2 NutritionThere are so many good reasons to keep a food journal…Here are just a few

1. Improves Weight Loss. This is not a surprise. Research shows that 80% of your weight loss success comes from what you put into your belly. You can work out for hours and hours BUT if you do not consume the proper nutrition you won’t reach those goals or get that six-pack that you have been wanting.

2. Better Overall Nutrition. A journal will allow you to review your consumption and see if there could potentially be an area for improvement. Are you missing any vital minerals and/or nutrients? Are you consuming too much or too little of a particular food group? Are you eating a high amount of processed foods rather than natural unprocessed foods?

3. Food Sensitivities or Allergies? Beside writing down what you are eating, be sure to also include HOW you FEEL prior and after eating. Making note of how you felt before eating will alert you for patterns. Where you upset, angry, stressed happy or relaxed? Did your mood affect what you ate? Jotting down how you felt afterwards can give you some insight if you may be sensitive to a particular food group. After consuming dairy, eggs or gluten do you get an upset belly or headache? Are you finding that you become tired after eating a certain food or food group? Is your body or joints achy? I know that it sounds silly, but many of our daily ailments come from WHAT we consume.

Do you keep a food journal? Are you noticing any trends or patterns? I’m curious to hear what you are noticing. Please comment and let me know!

Did you have lunch?

Radom Pics 017

LIKE this post if you had lunch!

Today I had a spring mix salad made with cucumber, red bell pepper, tuna and cheese. My favorite part of the salad was the dressing! I’m loving the Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing from my P90X3 meal guide….it’s seriously DELISH!

Non-Scale Victory

I haven’t been able to wear this coat on 3 years! I could never it get zipped or past my booty but today it fits PLUS there’s room 😃

Don’t go by the scale only. Pay attention to how you feel and how your clothes fit.
